 | INDOOR AIR QUALITY: High
humidity and poor ventilation practice are recognized as two of the leading
causes of IAQ (Indoor Air Quality) problems. Fungi, mold, mildew, dust
mites, viruses, bacteria, etc. thrive under conditions of high humidity in
the occupied spaces and in air distribution ductwork and plenums. Poor
ventilation results in a build up of pollutants such as carbon dioxide in
the occupied space. Poor IAQ has been shown to decrease worker productivity
and increase worker health related lost time. High humidity accelerates
corrosion and deterioration of materials and equipment in the home and work
place leading to premature equipment failure and high maintenance costs. The
TRICOIL® system provides the "Sensible Solution™" to humidity
control. Occupied spaces can be maintained at a comfortable temperature and
relative humidity. The supply air distribution system can be maintained at
70% relative humidity as recommended in ASHRAE 62-1989. Ventilation rates
can be increased to ASHRAE recommendations without the loss of indoor
relative humidity control. Controlling the indoor environment can reduce the
down time of equipment for repairs due to humidity related corrosion and
deterioration. |
 | RELIABILITY: The TRICOIL®
system uses the standard components of major air conditioning equipment
manufacturers. The performance of the equipment is understood and
predictable. The simplicity of operation enhances the system reliability. |
 | EFFICIENCY: A typical
TRICOIL® system has a moisture removal efficiency of 20 grains of water per
watt of power input. Compare this to the 9 grains per watt efficiency of a
standard cooling only system. For every watt of power input the TRICOIL®
system will remove over twice the amount of water from the air.
|
 | FLEXIBILITY: The TRICOIL®
method can be adapted to virtually any configuration and application.
Systems have been installed for hospital operating rooms and recovery rooms,
manufacturing facilities, cleanrooms, office buildings, retail stores,
dormitory buildings, research laboratories, museums, and residential
installations. The system can be used for recirculation air as well as 100%
outside air. The system is used for primary space cooling and heating,
dehumidifying, reheat, precooling, and/or preheat depending on the specific
application. Primary cooling can be chilled water, direct expansion cooling,
or flooded coil cooling.
|
 | COST EFFECTIVENESS:
TRICOIL® is the least expensive method available that reliably resolves so
many of the indoor air quality issues.
|
 | FUEL OPTIONS: The TRICOIL®
system provides for the use of any traditional fuel for heating such as
electric, gas, or oil,. Solar heating methods can be readily accommodated as
can air or hydronic heat pump applications and geothermal applications.
|
 | HEAT RECOVERY: The
TRICOIL® system's unique ability to use low temperature heating hot water
makes the system particularly attractive for heat recovery applications.
|
 | THERMAL STORAGE: The
TRICOIL® system facilitates the use of hot water thermal storage. This
provides the ability to economically shift the peak load of the winter
electric heating demand and the summer electric reheat demand off peak.
|
 | ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY: The
TRICOIL® system facilitates the application of air conditioning system
designs that do not use CFC's. |
