TRICOIL® Loop Runaround Precooling and Reheating Coils

The TRICOIL® method of using precooling and reheat runaround coils is identical to plain coil loop runaround coils except that the water loop is connected to an auxillary heating hot water supply piping system that may use recovered heat energy for supplimentary reheat and naturally adapts to a hot water hydronic heating system. Precise temperature and humidity is achieved with the minimal amount of reheat energy added to the system loop during part load conditions when all of the energy needed cannot be recovered from the entering warm air stream. During the heating season the precooling and reheating coils are used in series flow to provide comfort heating while circulating less gpm through a larger temperature range.

Basic advantages are the same as the Coil Loop Runaround type systems.

Additional advantages over plain coil loop runaround systems and heat pipe runaround systems:

  1. Concerns over water coil freezing is eliminated when the coils are used as a hydronic heating system and air is vented continually and automatically in the central piping system.
  2. By the operating nature of the coils, only the minimum amount of supplimentary reheat energy is ever needed to hold exact conditions in the space or duct system resulting in the most efficient operation and less operating costs to the owner.
  3. Coils and circulating water amounts can be exactly selected for either part load or full conditions.
  4. System operation and maintenance is easily understood by system operator.
  5. Additional chemical refrigerants are not added to the system making future disposal of the equipment easier and less expensive.
